International Moustache Day (stretched out to International Moustache Week, this year) happened not too long ago. My friends tell me I have a very good moustache, but it ain't nothing compared to my Dad's moustache! He managed to get it to curve back in somehow, while when I tried that look I just didn't have the hair to connect the moustache to the lower facial area.

I've been observing from midnight to 6am this week, starting Monday morning and ending tomorrow morning. I sleep like crap during the day, so it's no surprise that I'm feeling pretty exhausted overall.
Tonight I'm going to a special talk on campus with Tiffany on the trials and tribulations of grad school. It's by this guy named Jorge Cham, who writes a comic strip that makes fun of some of the harder things about grad school. I think it's a very funny comic and I'm looking forward to the talk tonight.
On Sunday I performed in the grad play where the grad students write scripts and act them out making fun of the faculty and astronomy in general. It's a fun event and I am really glad I helped out. I wrote a script that had Calvin & Hobbes observing at the SMT. I think it went over pretty well, especially with the kids in the audience!
I know it's been a long time since my last post. That's the way it goes. In fact, for the first time ever, I considered dumping my blog completely. Well, not quite dumping it. Just never posting again. I don't think I'll actually do that, but nonetheless...
I am right now flying back to Tucson (no I'm not, but when I wrote this entry I was) after a nice Easter weekend in San Jose with my family. Tiff came too and we hung out with Jayme and Nelson for awhile too. They even came to Sunday brunch with my cousin's family. It was nice to have them all there. I wish my Aunt Barbara and Uncle Joe had come, but I guess Barbara just had an operation on her teeth and wasn't feeling up to it.
I uploaded a bunch of pictures from the past couple weeks, including two hikes from when Tiff's family visited us in Tucson and some from Easter weekend. They're online at my Picasa Web Album.
I think my parents' house is looking really nice right now. The garden is full of plants and herbs that are growing up strong. I think spring is a really nice time in the bay area. The hills are green and the weather is almost perfect. It's probably why spring was always my favorite or near-favorite time (second only to summer, I think) as a kid.
On the plane ride to LA from SJ, I read a short story by my Dad called the Pornographer's Daughter. It was published in the Santa Clara Review and I really enjoyed the story. Thanks for telling me about it, Dad!
My back is feeling a bit better now that I am doing back exercises every night and morning, but I'm going to see a chiropractor on Wednesday too. This'll be my first time seeing a chiropractor, so I have no idea how it's going to go. I just know that I need to be more active in taking care of my back. Ok, well, I'll just edit this here and say the chiropractor visit went fine. He cracked a few joints and I'm feeling pretty good. Still need to keep up the back exercises though.
Things are getting pretty hectic as the semester nears its end. My new advisor is wanting me to get more stuff done, but I also have teaching responsibilities, plus a side project that has taken up the bulk of my research time this semester. Tiff's feeling pretty busy herself this semester too. She's been working on a substantial paper (sixty pages long!) that's basically thesis-type work. She just finished a second draft for her peers to read over and edit.
