Lecturing

I lectured again today. It didn't seem to go as well to me today. The students didn't seem to be too into the lecture. I don't know why. Tiff saw both today's and Friday's, and she thought the same thing. I should've prepared more, since a few slides I was expecting to show up didn't (I still don't know what happened to them). Also, I spent more time than I was expecting on reviewing the same stuff I had said earlier. I think it would have been more beneficial to ask questions and provoke more student involvement. Lecturing in general is a pretty bad way to convey information, I think.

Tiff's family is in town this week (her mom, sister, and sister's boyfriend, plus dad tonight), and they actually came to my lecture this morning too. I looked up at them every now and then and they didn't seem to be sleeping too much.

I start another observing run today at noon. I still need to double check which object I'll be observing. Then I go till 8pm. Fortunately, I can observe from home. I'll probably do that once things are going smoothly on the mountain.

Fantasy Baseball Might not be Happening

Organizing fantasy baseball has been a nightmare this year. Of course, it didn't work last year either... Getting 10 people together in one place at one time is basically impossible, it seems.

Spring Break is Waning

We went hiking in the Chiricahua's over the weekend! Pics are up at my picasa page.

Spring break is going all right so far. I wasted a lot of time on Civ4, but I've picked myself up out of that rut and got a lot done today. Hopefully, tomorrow will entail more of the same. Maybe a car wash is in the near future as well.

I emailed a chiropractor to set up an appointment to see what can be done about my ailing back. Basically since November I've had a hard time doing things like tieing my shoelaces and other stuff that required bending over. I'm hoping that an "adjustment" will do the trick.

Happy Birthday Jeffra!

Jeffra is my sister, in case you didn't know. Sounds like she's having a busy day but a good one nonetheless. I hope she likes the gifts I got her!

I'm looking forward to the colloquium talk this afternoon; the speaker gave a talk in the AGN class I'm taking yesterday and it was by far the best talk of the semester. Of course, that may say more about the crappiness of the class, but even given that it was a great talk. If only more talks were of that high quality...

Happy Birthday Tiff!

Well it's a day late, but my blog sucks these days anyway. We made tomato curry with rice and raita for dinner and then a chocolate torte that came out more like brownies for dessert. Very tasty indeed.

I get to have my first real teaching experience on Friday. I'll be giving a short lecture on how the Sun works. Hopefully it won't turn into a riot.
