House Renting Failure

Turns out we're not getting the house we were aiming for over the past week or so. Over the weekend, it seemed that it was just a matter of the owner contacting our references. Then after hearing nothing from her on Monday, Tuesday morning she comes back and tells us there's another tenant willing to sign a two year lease AND who doesn't care about the bars on the windows (Tiff and I, on the other hand, refuse to live in a prison). We thought about it for a bit, then decided that we weren't that desperate and stuck to a one year lease with the bars on at least some of the windows needing to come off. Last night she called me and told me she decided on the other tenants. Darn, because it was a great house without the bars.

My team lost in the first round of league playoffs last night. We had a chance with the score tied at 5-5 and the wind being strong enough that only downwind points were scored, but then they got an upwind point and we fell apart. The final score was 10-6. At least we scored the last point when hard cap was called. It was a good experience being the captain of the team and I'd like to do it again, but I'm not sure if next semester is the best time to do it. There are aspects that are nice about not being captain, like being able to show up late if you want to, not have to worry about when to start the game, etc.

Dum de Dum

Worked a lot Saturday, worked a lot Sunday, going to work a lot today. Although I think I'm still gonna hit poker tonight. But maybe I can bust out early and go back to work around 8 or 9! Yeah!

You Know What We Need?

A Dan Wetzel article blasting the entire French nation for forgiving Zidane for headbutting the Italian dude at the end of the World Cup final. Wetzel does do an excellent job of taking the moral high road every time... as long as it happens to be someone he doesn't like.

Cell Phones Need Baths, Right?

While riding home on my road bike yesterday (oh yeah, I bought a road bike last weekend. I'll post a picture of it soon), not only did I slip and fall on the second turn I made, but it was raining so hard that I got completely soaked. Furthermore, I stupidly left my cell phone in my shorts pocket and now the display is entirely non-functional. Fortunately, it appears that the rest of the phone works, so I'm gonna try to tough it out for now. We'll see how long it lasts.
