Here's what I'm reading (or am about to read):
"Dreams are 'nothing,' sister?
"Without dreams, there could be no despair"
"Jefferson addressed the Declaration of Independence as much to Americans uncertain about the wisdom of independence as to world opinion, for he wanted to convince his fellow citizens that social and political progress could no longer be accomplished within the British Empire."
"There is considerable variance as to the number of starting hands played, aggressiveness, table image, and a host of other characteristics."
"For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face."
"Curiousity is the essence of the scientific mind.
"For example, you know how milk comes out your nose if you laugh while drinking?
"Well, I'm going to see what happens when I inhale milk into my nose and laugh!"
"Idiocy is the essence of the male mind."
"I'm guessing it will shoot out my ears. Don't you want to see?"
That's five books.
Hence, I present to you, in list format, the titles of books that I am reading or am about to commence reading:
No, nevermind.
Instead, I'll post an obscure quote from each book, and then you can try to identify each book based on the quote. Since I'm at work right now, it'll have to wait until I get home.
I'm busy!
And tired!
And it's not gonna change for the next few weeks!
I find it amusing that one of the notes included in the product description of $327.25 baseball glove informs the buyer that the glove "Fits on left hand for right handed thrower." Just in case you were about to throw down well over $300 on a baseball glove but forgot that righties wear the glove on their left hand.
I'm watching archived C-Span Q&As right now. They've got Roger Ailes slamming any journalists that whisper a negative word about America. "Fox news makes a tremendous contribution to journalism." Yeah, in a negative way. He bashed the BBC too. What a lamewad.

"After years of trying, Senate Republicans on Wednesday succeeded in easing the path to opening up the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge to oil drilling..."
Arguments for drilling in Alaska: reduce dependence on foreign oil, increase number of domestic jobs.
Arguments against drilling in Alaska: It is the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. Drilling for oil will do irreparable damage to the environment and those that live in it. Furthermore, the amount of oil available in the ANWR is insignificant compared to the amount of foreign oil we purchase. The right way to reduce dependency on foreign oil is to reduce consumption. I don't know what to say about the job issues, except that there must be other places for people to find work.
The frustrating part about all this is that the primary reason politicians are considering doing this is that they are being pressured by the oil companies who fund their campaigns. Money talks.
My thoughts on competition... In general, I prefer to play with the goal of having fun. Winning is definitely secondary, although the two often go hand in hand. But I've also wondered if I might like to throw out the Mr. Nice Guy attitude and care only about winning. Of course, this would still be totally honest, following all the rules etc. But having a different type attitude, where winning is the only thing that matters. I think I could do it, but I also think it would be very ugly. Still, I might win more. Whatever that's worth.
I spent all day working on a proposal for observing time at the Sub-Millimeter Array. Consequently, there was no time to check out the spring training game I mentioned today. Damn!
Ultimate frisbee was fun today. Even though my team lost both games, they were each close until the end. And everyone on my team is still nice and has a positive attitude, which is the most important thing.
I'm going to my first ever spring training baseball game. Rockies-Angels. It will be fun.
I just played a game of Clue (Master Edition). What is the optimal strategy for Clue? I don't really have one, but I'd like one. My current strategy is to write down everything everyone guesses and try to cross-correlate and whittle down the possibilities. In theory, this should work. In practice, I have a hard time keeping track of everything. So tell me, what is the optimal Clue strategy?
Yesterday I felt like absolute shit. I didn't sleep at all the previous night (for no other reason than I just couldn't fall asleep) and I played in an intense game of ultimate frisbee the afternoon before that. Consequently, my body just decided to shut down yesterday. I decided to skip my morning class, but I had to go in to work for a meeting at 11am. So I spent the rest of the day in a stupor.
One way to characterize my health level is the speed with which I bike in to work. Normally, I bike fast enough that I pass 95-99% of the people on the road. Yesterday, however, I was like 'Grandma Bussmann' as 95-99% of people passed me! After sleeping for 14 hours last night, however, I'm feeling a lot better today. In fact, today I biked in to work at a moderate pace. I'd say you could describe me as 'Aunt Bussmann', since maybe 60-70% of people were passing me.
I'm planning on skipping Ultimate frisbee this afternoon in favor of more rest. Then I'll take it easy over the weekend and hopefully be good as new!
Before I disappear to the bay area for the weekend, I'm posting All You Ever Wanted To Know About Trent Dupuy. Enjoy.
In other news, as I already mentioned, I'm going back to the bay area. The main occasion is Tiffany's birthday on the 6th and then my sister's birthday on the 8th. There's a small chance I might sneak down to watch a big poker tournament with a bunch of professional poker players.
As of right now, there is a canker sore on my tongue that is making eating and drinking a painful experience. In fact, I think I might be forced to go to the grocery store to buy some baby food so I don't starve to death.
By the way, whatever you decide to do based on this post, one thing you DEFINITELY should not do is look up "canker sore" on google. I guess one of the new features of google is showing you a real thumbnail picture of whatever it is you searched for (to go along with your search results). Trust me, a real image of somebody else's canker sore is NOT a pretty sight...
