Not the Same

I visited my grandma today. She's not the same person she used to be. She didn't recognize who I was, but when I said my name and my relationship to her, she remembered that I just graduated from college, which surprised me. She also remembered other facts like that, but would repeatedly ask me strange questions like where in the house I had come from. She also said that I was very tall and she couldn't believe how I kept on growing, even though I haven't really grown for the past few years. She was, however, very happy to see me and so it was good visiting her.

Now I guess I'll start reading The Return of the King (third part of The Lord of the Rings).

Home for the Weekend

I have come home to San Jose this weekend, mainly to take it easy and relax. Hopefully I'll get more sleep than I have been lately. The remodelling of the house is close to being finished, and it's looking real nice. Unfortunately, I forgot to bring my camera with me, but I'll remember it in two weeks, when I'll be coming home for my sister's graduation.

The past few days I've been tired and a little bit sick. A sore throat has been the main consequence, but today I had an uncomfortable headache for an hour or so. My intention was to move most of my stuff into the room at Davis that I'll be living in for the summer, but the headache stopped me from doing so.

Tomorrow I'll be visiting my grandmother (Dad's Mom) who has not been doing well for the past couple of months. I haven't seen her in some time, so it will be nice to spend some time with her, even if she isn't the same as she used to be.

Link of the Week

And the first ever Link of the Week is: SIRTF's infrared zoo, where they take their camera that picks up radiation at infrared wavelengths (i.e. heat) to the zoo to see what different animals looks like. It turns out that reptiles are indeed cold-blooded. Check it out at http://sirtf.caltech.edu/EPO/Zoo/zoo.html.

Grades

So I just checked my grade in Physics 110A (Electricity & Magnetism) and found that I got a B+. I was hoping for an A-, but my average grade on the final ruined my chances. It is dissappointing, simply because I put so much time into the class. It probably also doesn't bode very well for my chances to get into the good grad schools, given that I don't do well on standardized tests (GRE) and haven't done any research that has produced publish-able results.

In other news, the plan is to watch one of the Red-White-Blue movie collection that my family gave me as a graduation gift. Tomorrow the plan is to work till about 5, then come home and move my stuff into the room a few doors down, then go home to San Jose for the weekend.

Softball was a success

Tonight was the first game of pick up softball that I've been organizing this summer. It went as well as I could have hoped, with 16 people showing up that I knew plus three total strangers joining in the game. It worked out almost perfectly, with the field I was hoping we could play on available and enough people showing up for a real game. Hopefully the same thing will happen next Wednesday.

Other than that, I bought my plane ticket to Norway for June 26-July 2. It was quite expensive, and now I have to get a rush passport so that I can actually leave the country.

I should probably go see a dentist too. Finally, I'm going to go back home this weekend and hopefully relax a little.

First Real Entry

It's been a busy past few days for me. My last final was on Tuesday, I graduated on Thursday (well, I participated in the ceremony; I'm taking a couple of classes next semester while finishing up) and worked for about 12 hours between Wednesday and Friday.

But I've also had extra time to get going on some of the things that I've been planning on doing for some time now. This website, for example, is finally getting going. I'm also trying to organize a pick-up softball game with friends of mine in astrophysics and physics. The first game is supposed to be Wednesday, so we'll see how that goes.

I also want to start playing racquetball, get some golf in, print some more of my better pictures (taken with a digital camera), figure out why my computer refuses to run at 1.4GHz, get better at spades and chess, go camping/hiking, swim once a week or more, and maybe some other stuff.
